ROBERTO CLEMENTE: This Clemente card is from the 1955 Topps set and is his rookie card. The "Authentic" grade was a little disappointing, but the card has the look of a very good card. I am certainly pleased to own it. Clemente, of course, is a legend for his great hitting and superb arm in the outfield, plus his humanitarian work. He passed away in 1972 on a relief mission to Nicaragua, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame without a 5 year wait in 1973.

SANDY KOUFAX: Koufax was the dominant pitcher of the mid 1960's. This 1955 Topps rookie card graded a 1.5 by PSA. It had been a 3.0 from SGC before. It still is a pleasure to look at. Koufax was a first ballot 1972 Hall of Fame inductee, despite the fact that he only pitched for 12 years in the majors. He led the National League in ERA for each of the last five years of his career.

LEROY "SATCHEL" PAIGE: Paige was probably the greatest pitcher in Negro League history, and many argue that he ranks among the greatest of all-time, period. His major league career was short, since he didn't get a chance to pitch in the big leagues until he was nearly 42 years old. But, even at 42, he was still solid. Paige pitched so many games in so many leagues from 1924-1948, that there is no way to calculate how many games or innings he actually pitched. But Bob Feller and Joe DiMaggio both swear he was the best there ever was. This 1953 Topps card is a beauty!

MICKEY MANTLE: Mantle was arguably the premier player of the 1950's and for much of the 1960's. He hit 536 homers and was in the top 5 in the MVP voting an amazing 9 times! He led the Yankees to 7 World Series championships and was an All-Star 16 times in his 18 seasons. I'm happy to own these great looking cards in addition to several other Mantle cards.
